It’s a Green Day at CompuPay!
We’re not talking about bonus paychecks or the lively sounds of punk band Green Day. We’re talking about one of the hottest topics around today – going green.
Going green has long been a concern for environmentalists. But over the last two years, concern for our planet has hit mainstream culture with such force that it is nearly impossible to avoid the abundance of “green” messages. Wal-Mart offers t-shirts made from soda bottles; celebrities tote aluminum water bottles and promote composting; and non-toxic detergents and organic foods are on display in the local supermarket.
Even more visible are the various methods for conserving energy promoted by retail chains, non-profit organizations and our government. Purchases of energy-saving compact fluorescent light bulbs doubled in 2007 and buzz about the documentary “Who Killed the Electric Car” has been replaced with buzz about the 33,000 people on the waiting list for GM’s electric car, the Chevrolet Volt.
So, what’s the buzz at CompuPay? CompuPay is going green!
CompuPay already promotes saving paper and energy through its Onsite CheckPrint service for PowerPayroll and XpressPayroll clients. This service not only saves clients money by eliminating delivery and fuel surcharge fees, it also reduces fuel consumption and saves paper. CompuPay also recycles the paper in our shred boxes. This is a great start, but we want to and can do more. So, we’ve solicited the help of our employees!
CompuPay recently formed a green committee to research ways CompuPay can reduce waste, increase efficiency and positively impact our environment. Employees interested in joining the committee submitted their names to the senior management team who formed the team based on those submissions.
This is a great chance for employees to partner with co-workers across the country, create and champion innovative ways to help make a positive impact on our environment and celebrate many future green days at CompuPay. The committee will hold its first meeting in November.
