Connecticut Urges Taxpayers to Review Form CT-W4
The Connecticut Department of Revenue Services (CTDRS) is asking employers and their employees, especially employees who adjusted their CT withholding in 2011, to review their Form CT-W4, Employee’s Withholding Certificate for accurate tax withholding information.
Employees should file a new form CT-W4 with their employer each year, and it is especially important that they file a new one for 2012 because of the significant changes to Connecticut income tax withholding calculation routines and tables in 2011. CTDRS Commissioner Kevin B. Sullivan stated that employees who adjusted their withholding during 2011 “must do so in order to avoid penalties for not having enough tax taken out of their paychecks in 2012.”
The CTDRS has issued a guide titled “Is My Withholding Correct?” that is available for download in pdf format on the their website. Additional information about Form CT-W4, Employee’s Withholding Certificate and how to contact the CTDRS taxpayer service is available on the CTDRS website.
